Choosing The Correct Kid’s Craft

Often a person’s career choice as an adult had roots in a  kid’s craft  that he or she enjoyed while growing up.   With that in mind,  we want to offer our children as much of a variety of projects to work on and become familiar with as we possibly can.   This will give them a chance to try different things and develop their own likes and dislikes.

We may find that our children enjoy the same exact interests that we find pleasure in.   On the other hand,  we may find a child who is completely into something new and different from our taste.   It is important,  therefore,  to present a variety of choices for our kids to explore.

It is my opinion that every kid needs a hobby or craft to absorb himself in.   An interesting  kid’s craft can teach children many valuable lessons while keeping them entertained for hours.  A favorite hobby or craft could even help to keep your child off the streets and away from undesirable playmates and out of trouble.

Most children enjoy sports,  so any athletic activity is a great hobby for kids.   Football,  soccer,  basketball and little league baseball are all popular sports,  along with track and field events.    My granddaughter also takes lessons in dancing,  cheerleading,  and baton twirling.

Opportunities to get your kids involved are everywhere.   Any hobby that kids actively participate in,  whether it is a sport or a handicraft, will help your children to stay in shape and learn new talents in the process.

Are you looking for kids’ crafts that are simple and fun for everyone?   Perhaps a few suggestions will make your crafting time more enjoyable.   Check out these hints:

*   Let your children choose their crafting project.

*   Make a list of all supplies you will need for this craft if you do not have them on hand.

*   Needless to say,  be sure to take the list with you when you shop.

*   Prepare the area (table top, counter top or floor) where the kids will be crafting by covering with newspapers or plastic.  (A plastic table cloth works fine.)

*   Have all supplies laid out before starting,  along with old rags or paper towels in case of spills.   Wet wipes are handy to have nearby too.

*   Be sure that all paints and other supplies are non-toxic.

*    Old clothes are a must for kids who are crafting.  (adults, too, sometimes!)

*    Show the kids how to do the project.   Then let them do it in their own way.   (You may be surprised with how inventive they can be.)

*   Last but not least -  be sure to take pictures to add to your scrapbook.

Painting A Piggy Bank Is A Great Craft For Kids

Here’s a fun way for your kids or grandkids to learn about money and saving while  crafting. Give them a ceramic pig to paint using acrylic paints.  Urge them to save their allowances in the bank and keep track of the money they’ve saved.   Think of how proud they will be to see the bank they’ve painted themselves and watch their excitement as they watch their savings grow.

Not so long ago I gave similar adorable piggy banks to each of my three grandchildren to paint.   They had so much fun, didn’t make the mess I anticipated,  and were extremely proud of their banks.   Even the youngest one did a great job figuring out a design and applying it to the bank.

Kid’s Crafts

There are any number of kid’s crafts that will keep your children busy, yet entertained. When considering projects, it is important to be sure that these projects are safe for them. Kids left alone just do not realize the danger of doing certain things. While we know we cannot watch youngsters all of the time, and we know that kids will experiment, we must do our best to teach them safety.

Just recently, two youngsters decided to mix vinegar and baking soda. (If you’ve ever used this combination to clear your drains, you know what happens.) I do not know what they were attempting to create, but as I understand it, the two kids put the vinegar and baking soda in a large container and nothing happened. They then decided to put the two products in a smaller bottle and shake it. This caused the bottle to explode, causing damage to the face of the one boy – a lesson learned the hard way.
