Coin collecting, like stamp collecting, is a great kid’s craft (as well as a great adult hobby.) This is a popular pastime to introduce to our children
and is one that parents can participate in. One huge benefit from this hobby is the opportunity to teach our kids valuable information and facts while enjoying the time spent together.
Like stamps, coins have historical value. Foreign coins, along with the many new United States coins being introduced, add interest and variety to all collections. Many coins are available at reasonable prices and appreciate in value over time.
A coin collection can become quite valuable and is something to be treasured.
Keeping our kids happy and involved is our main goal in life. One way to do that is to get them interested in collecting. Collecting is a great kids craft. There are all sorts of items that kids like to collect. Some of the more common things that kids like to collect are stamps.
Stamps are interesting because they can be from different countries, thus becoming a geography lesson. They may be very old, or they may be new. Stamps are available in all colors and numerous styles. The variety of stamps to look at and collect seems to be unlimited.
Stamps are readily available and have great historical significance. Stamp collecting can be very exciting, and the fact that many may be acquired free or at minimum expense makes it great for kids and adults alike.

How to Sell Your Crafts Locally, Globally, and On-Line
Nearly everyone who is involved to some extent in crafting, I would imagine, has considered the possibility of selling their handmade items for additional income and to have an outlet for their many beautiful creations. Sooner or later, the supply of these items becomes too much to keep on hand. Let’s consider what the marketplace has to offer for handmade items.
There is a remarkable new opportunity for crafters in these present times. Handmade items are popular. The market is ripe for creativity, and there are numerous opportunities for sales - opportunities that perhaps did not exist a few years back.
To be successful in selling your crafts, you must first determine the right price for each item. You want to be sure that the prices you set are not too expensive. On the other hand, you do not want to price you precious handmades too cheaply. When the price is right, customers will buy.
There are several venues for selling your crafts. Craft fairs are continually being held across the country. Online sales are another way to break into the market, and consignment shops offer another outlet for your items. It is necessary to consider every option to determine what is right for you.
Bored
? Check out a few craft ideas and add some variety to your life.
Have you ever felt as if you’ve watched just too much TV or played too many computer games? I like TV as much as anyone else, but sometimes it just seems that there is nothing on that interests me. And I can only take so much of playing games on the computer. Don’t we all get to that point occasionally? Sometimes we just need to find a new interest. Taking up a new craft or hobby may fill the void we sometimes feel.
There are probably as many craft and hobby ideas as there are bored people. Perhaps you would feel fulfilled by getting involved in scrapbooking. Learning to paint is very rewarding, and you may be surprised at how many people are impressed with your efforts. Sitting down and playing the piano is relaxing for me. I can change my mood by doing so. So many others enjoy playing the guitar. Candle making and soap making are fun crafts to do, and the items you create make ideal gifts. With all the other craft and hobby ideas that abound, there is really no reason to be bored for long!
As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve long been fascinated by Grandfather Clocks. (Maybe it doesn’t take much to excite me! LOL) These clocks just are an unusual, yet useful and beautiful, accessory to any home. When it comes to woodworking, making a clock, especially a Grandfather Clock, seems to me to be a great project.
A few years ago, at Christmas time, my husband and I decided to give our sons a special treat and purchase a Grandfather Clock for each of them. (We found a great deal on them.) When their clocks arrived by truck, these two boys and their families were very happily surprised.
Now suppose we had gone even further and made these clocks. How much more do you suppose they would have been appreciated? Perhaps this is a project you might want to consider.
By the way, these clocks are beautiful and really make a statement!
Are you like me? Do you never seem to have enough space for all the ’stuff’ you’ve accumulated? If so, there is hope. With the proper woodworking plans, you can build a really attractive outbuilding that will not only look great, but will also be perfect for your extra goodies.
Unless you are really, really handy (and you may be), it is important that you get a good set of building plans. These plans will be well worth their cost as they will give you every piece of information that you will need to start and finish your shed. Included will be a complete list of materials you will need to purchase. Your plans will included photos and drawings to show you step by step how your work on this building should progress. In addition, a list of tools needed for your project will be provided.
Plans can be purchased very reasonably, and you will soon be on your way to having the shed you envisioned.
Candle making is a great hobby and a fun activity for the entire family to participate in if proper care is taken. In addition to the fun involved, making candles is easy if you prepare in advance. Clearing an area on your table or countertop near your stove or microwave and gathering all of your supplies together before starting make the process go more smoothly.
There are a variety of ways to make candles, depending on your personal taste. The colors and scents available give us additional choices to make.
Candles are more often used for luxury and pleasure than for light and heat. They have become a very common decorating item used to accent the decor of any room in your house and make beautiful centerpieces for dinner parties and formal occasions.
If you would like some new and different craft ideas, take a day off and visit one of the Florida Flywheelers’ special events. These events are held three times per year near Fort Meade, Florida. A trip there, if you are not so very far away, is a special treat. You can see all kinds of unique vehicles such as the one pictured here. The person who made this cute little tractor had a lot of talent and a great imagination. I’m sorry I did not get his (or her) name.
These events are held, as I said, three times per year: once in the fall, once in January, and once in February of every year. The next one will be starting this week on Wednesday, February 24, and go through Saturday, the 27th. You can see all sorts of old engines and tractors there, along with tractor pulls and a huge flea market. One great attraction at these events is the old style town that has been recreated on the property. And of course, there is plenty of food available.
When I tour the grounds, I always keep my eyes open for new and different craft ideas. Although I will never, I’m sure, be able to make a tractor like the one pictured above, I can still find several ideas for new crafts.
(Wait until you see the vehicle my son made! I’ll have a picture for you later this week.)
If you haven’t added an assortment of craft punches (or at least one or two) to your cardmaking and scrapbooking supplies, you might want to consider doing so. There are a lot of really neat punches available, and these punches are so much fun to use. You can find many, many uses for them. Punch out a design on your scrapbook page or card for effect and then use the shape you punched out elsewhere. Make fancy edges and corners on your papers , cards and envelopes. The possibilities go on and on.
When you consider all the designs and subjects that are available, it seems as if you can get nearly any style or design of punch you desire. I’ve just purchased a double-edged one that cuts out a piece of paper that looks just like a piece of lace. It makes a really beautiful embellishment.
I just want to take a moment or two from my craft projects to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day. I cannot think of a better way to let you all know I appreciate you.
So why don’t you do the same if you haven’t already done so? Wish all your dear ones a special day.
